Say hello to our new client: Project S.A.F.E.!
S.A.F.E. has been labeled as one of the “world’s largest ecological experiments” and its infrastructure and scientific resources will be utilized by research teams from all over the world (check out the growing list of participating projects) to make sure that no piece of scientific evidence will escape their attention. This means that everything needs to be properly documented, databased, analyzed, and published.
There is already a rapidly growing body of data that the core team and the external participants are adding to the common data repository.
Our task is to build a database and to provide the infrastructure and tools for data ingestion, management and publication. We will use our very own EarthCape platform for this by providing both desktop data management tools and web portal solutions. We will also work on extensions to the platform to adapt to specifics of the project where required.
The team has already started to work with the initial data sets of participating projects and even at this early stage we are inspired by the diversity of data (and life!) that we are dealing with. And that is only a beginning. Stay tuned on our blog to hear more about how the S.A.F.E. database is evolving.
