It has been a popular request to extend core EarthCape functionality with a basic LIMS. Why on earth!?

Broadly speaking, there were two main reasons. Current lab software is considered too “laboratory oriented” leaving field biologists missing a lot of commonly needed routines that would make their life easier when working with samples. And the lack of flexibility in customizing the interface for specific projects and being overloaded with unused functionality made ecologists and taxonomists look elsewhere.
